Course General


The Offshore Supply Vessel Manuovering course provides the underpinning manoeuvring and OSV handling knowledge and skills for Deck Officers on board Offshore Supply Vessels. The course prepares deck officers to meet the training requirements of STCW 2010 Section B/V(e).
 

Aim and Objectives


To enhance safety on Offshore Supply Vessels and give a thorough understanding of safety during operations onboard supply vessels, anchor handling, supply and cable laying operations Upon completion, the participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge of:.
  • Permit to work system .
  • Planning and risk assessment during anchor handling operations according to procedures.
  • Job safety analysis .
  • Correct, safe use of Shark Jaws.
  • Work safety and how to work efficiently onboard the vessels.
  • The design, scope of work and especially of the safety aspects related to offshore support vessels, including anchor handling, cargo handling and cable-laying vessels.
  • Offshore support vessels, design and scope of work.
  • Handling and inspecting wires, chains and related equipment properly.
  • How to practice safety when working with Shark Jaws.

Course Description


This course is intended to meet statutory and industry requirements for personnel involved in handling Offshore Supply Vessels
The course provides the delegates with theoretical guidance and hands on practical experience in handling specific OSVs in a variety of conditions using a Full Mission OSV Simulator.

Teaching Methods


The course shall be a blend of interactive classroom instruction and discussion followed by realistic practical exercises in a Full Mission OSV Simulator.

Entry Requirement


• Participants to hold or be undertaking training towards a minimum of Deck Watchkeeper certificate or equivalent. • The course is designed for participants with limited knowledge of offshore support vessel operations. • Participants may benefit from having some previous offshore experience. 

Target Audience


The course is designed for Deck Cadets, Deck officers and crew new to the offshore industry and unfamiliar with the manoeuvring characteristics of Offshore Supply Vessels.
